Why “Island Wines”? It’s simple: some of my favorite wines in the shop are from islands around the world. Too small on their own to have an entire event theme, and unique enough to stand out from their mainland countries. The key to so many of these places is their volcanic origin, providing that oh-so-special soil type Winemakers swoon over, which make wines of intense minerality, elegance and lift. Beyond the mental picture of an island sounding pretty damn inticing to us in our summer sweltering, the wines themselves are refreshing as hell and the perfect thing to reach for to beat the heat.
