Grenache, which may be the most widely planted varietal in the world, is most appealing to me when the wine shows its tell-tale character of crush red fruit and a hint of blueberry, which I find in our wines. The 2023 version comes from two vineyards in Sonoma Co., one from Scorsone in Dry Creek Valley that is responsible for more earthy and dark spiced red fruit, and the Ceja Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, which always a lighter, fruitier character with ample cola and spice.
