From the Winery:
TASTING NOTES
Our Freestone vineyard partners grow some of EK’s finest (and dearest) Pinot fruit. Although the 2019 harvest was a stingy one, a single puncheon of Michael Valentine captured Hanna’s heart early on and was destined for her latest iteration of The Pianist.
Naturally racy with acidity, the Dijon 667 clone overperformed, producing a brilliantly aromatic wine, gushing with bright wild cherry, raspberry, bay leaf, orange rind and deep-forest floor.
This lone puncheon sang the True Sonoma Coast song from the get-go, and after the addition of some Cleary Ranch (another Freestone favorite) the blend came together perfectly. The final result is modest in alcohol and high in impact, with Cleary adding a bit more overall structure and creaminess.
You’ll get an astonishing amount of enjoyment by simply pouring a glass and drawing in the dazzling aromatics. Really, that’s what great Pinot is all about. Not to be outdone, the palate follows through with similar persistence, complexity and flavor. Already a killer wine, the overall balance and intensity of fruit will help this wine age handily for more than a decade. Only 68 cases produced, this is both an Allocation List favorite and exclusive.
